Trevor Basin Fun Day

On Saturday 26th November 2005 we all celebrated the birthday of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which was 200 years young, there was a grand opening ceremony as boats ferried across the Aqueduct carrying many important people, just as it has 200 years earlier.  A 16 Gun salute fired into the air as Thomas Telford arrived at Trevor Basin from the Fron just as it had all those years ago.

The day was attended by many people (now and then) and great celebrations were enjoyed by all, the end to a modern day celebration usually ends up (as this one did) with a fantastic firework display which could be seen from miles away.

In Mach of 2007 the Aqueduct Community Association was formed and one of its aims was to hold a celebration 250th birthday party for Thomas Telford.  We wanted to get our three communities of Garth, Trevor and Fron involved with the celebrations as much as possible, encouraging local groups to have a stall on the canal side and raise some much needed money for their individual groups.

The summer of 2007 saw our first ever "Fun day" at Trevor basin, the main reason for the event was to celebrate Thomas Telfords 250th birthday, he was in attendance on the day looking very good for his age!!  or at least Paul Drake did (he played the part of Thomas Telford).

The fun day was such a success that it was decided we could do it all again in 2008.
