Fron wins Calor gas village of the year 2008

Froncysyllte community have been celebrating their success after winning the Calor Gas Village of the Year - being named the best village in the whole of Wales!

Village representatives Janet Norman and Diane Cooper were at the event in the Guildhall in London to hear the good news in December 2008.  Of particular praise by the judges was the village's community cafe, Cakes and Company which is run by volunteers in the Community Centre from Easter to October every weekend. Consultation is ongoing between interested parties to try to find the best way to spend the £2000 won in the competition

HRH the Prince of Wales visited Froncysyllte on Monday 2nd March 2009 to help Cakes and Company celebrate their success in Achieving the Calor Village of Wales Award.  Their endeavours brought together the village in social harmony under the headings of Business, Communication, Environment and People to win the title.  The organisers introduced Prince Charles to all those representing these categories that had made such an outstanding impression on the judges.  Without their substantial contribution, none of this would have been possible.
